What is a Cranial Osteopathic treatment like?
Most describe a Cranial Osteopathic treatment as very relaxing, often sleeping during it. Afterward most experience some fatigue. That's because it takes energy to heal, yours. Irritability and "spacyness" are also common. Shifting body aches may occur. As your body's healing system is stimulated, it will be moving pieces around, re-arranging the landscape. A few days of this is normal. Pain is not. Many of my patients ask: When a restriction is removed, will it come back? Great question. The answer is no. Once the body begins to treat physical trauma, the ground gained is not lost. There is only one exception to this. If a physical pattern is maintained by deep emotional pain, neither will lift until those emotions are dealt with.
Generally at my Osteopathic clinic in Los Angeles, I treat most ailments weekly for about eight weeks, some more, some less. Then every other week until the body becomes stronger. Treatments continue to be spaced apart, further and further, until they're no longer needed. The exact duration is highly specific to each person. The older an injury, the longer it takes to heal. The more forceful the injury, the longer it takes. The weaker a person's vitality, the longer it takes. Age of injury, amount of force absorbed, and inherent vitality. These will determine healing pace.
